My approach to Counselling

I am trained in Integrative Counselling, which means I draw on and combine elements of various approaches dependent upon your individual needs.  Thus we may explore aspects of your past and your childhood if this is getting in the way of your current life; we might look at ways of  helping you to manage difficult feelings or some aspect of your behaviour that you would like to change, or it might be that the way that you think about yourself limits you and stops you getting what you want from life.

Together we would agree on what seems particularly important for you and decide what might be a useful number of sessions.  Our aim would be to explore your situation, get to understand what is happening for you and why and then support you in creating the changes you need.

Counselling is not an easy option; it can be emotionally demanding and challenging, as we are faced with ourselves and our attitudes and limitations.  It is my hope that all this is achieved within a warm, accepting environment which respects you and totally accepts who you are.
